Picture Messaging FAQs
Can I send a picture message to someone using another carrier?
Yes. T-Mobile customers have the ability to send and receive picture messages to and from Cingular Wireless®, AT&T Wireless, Sprint PCS®, Nextel Wireless®, and Verizon Wireless customers.
Is there a limit to the size of picture messages?
Yes. The maximum picture message size that the T-Mobile network can support is 300 KB.
How many picture messages can I send and receive per month?
As a T-Mobile customer, you may send and receive as many picture messages as you like. Picture messages sent and received over the T-Mobile network cost $0.15 per message. If you plan to send a large number of messages per month, T-Mobile offers messaging value bundles. For detailed information on picture messaging and messaging value bundles, go to Picture & Video Messaging.
Can I send picture messages to e-mail addresses?
Yes. When you create a picture message, simply type the desired e-mail address instead of a mobile number, and then press Send.
Can I receive picture messages from an e-mail address?
Yes. Simply address the e-mail to the e-mail address of your phone, for example: 1234567890@tmomail.net. NOTE: When receiving picture messages from e-mail addresses, the image will be resized to fit the display of your phone.
Why do I receive a link instead of the picture?
Before being able to receive a multimedia message, you must first send a picture message, which sets up your Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card on the network for picture messaging. This is referred to as provisioning. Please send a picture message before attempting to receive a picture message. For more information, go to Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS).
What if I have a phone that T-Mobile does not sell, can I still send and receive picture messages?
Yes. If you have purchased a phone that is not T-Mobile branded, it is possible that the phone does not have the settings required to send picture messages over the T-Mobile network. To set up your phone for use with T-Mobile’s picture messaging service, go to Camera phone MMS settings.
